Hey guys, brand new to this site and these forums and looking to confirm that the GTX 660 Ti will work with the rest of my hardware and such, don't want to pay $300 for something that doesn't work with my PC. Copy/pasted from my question on yahoo answers.

I've been planning on buying the 660 for a while and now I can finally get it but I need to make absolute sure that it will work with my computer considering it's over $300. I'm pretty sure it'll work but I'd like some confirmation. I know the 660 is PCI express 3.0 while my motherboard only supports 2.0 but I've been told that that doesn't matter.

    My Specs:

    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T

    Current GPU: GTX 460

Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-870A-UD3 (Socket M2)

Hard Drives: 1 TB Internal, 1 TB External

    Power Supply: 700 watt

Assuming it's compatible, which one would be best to get? I'm looking to get the GTX 660 Ti

    This one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Graphics-Cards

    Or this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Graphics-Cards

The Gigabyte seems to be better because it's factory overclocked and comes with more mhz in both core and boost clocks but I don't know which is better in general between EVGA and Gigabyte.

If there's another one that you think would be better feel free to link it, otherwise I think I'd go with the Gigabyte, would like your thoughts on that. Thanks guys.

    I also have a full-size tower

Shouldn't give you any issues. Any specs on the power supply though? I always suggest a quality PSU to my customers. Quality before watts is what I say.

I think that 1055T may hold that GTX 660Ti back some. It'll work but don't expect leaps and bounds over your GTX 460.

I would look at your power supply to make sure it's not a piece of junk

GTX 660ti has 10w less power consumption and almost 2x faster in benchmarks then your current GTX 460.
Can't see you having any probs.

I can't see why so many responses mention ops PSU, if he's running a 460 trouble free then the 660ti isn't going to be hindered by his psu.

oh it will work just fine....just switch to an intel board and cpu asap to get the full use out of it because there will surely be some cpu bottle necking in some of the more cpu stringent titles such as skyrim and bf3 multiplayer.

    Don't buy a 660ti it is a RIPOFF buy a 7950

Actually, just don't listen to this guy. Your cpu will do fine. Your mobo will be fine. Your psu will be fine. Pull the trigger on it bro! Should be epic :) Make sure to grab the latest drivers for the card from here or the nvidia website, then have fun!
