Hi there, I'm want to upgrade my gpu and I'm deciding between these two: a second hand gtx 750 ti or a brand new gtx 1050. The main problem is to know if my old computer can manage the new one or maybe the gtx 750 ti will do the same job. My specs are: amd phenom II x4 925 asus m2n-2 8 gb ddr2 800 psu 480w Thankyou very much!!
Thanks for your reply. My main concenr about buying a new one is waisting money in power that my computer is unable to use because the cpu is going to bottleneck the gpu. So, having watched this and knowing that the 750ti costs less than half of the 1050 I think it can be a good option. I would like to play gta v, should I look for 4gb or 2gb will also do the job? Thanks a lot!
What does your 925 clock to? I remember I could only get 3.6 out of my 940. Also MSI has a $10 rebate on 1050ti's right now and Ricket League is free.
Phenom II x4 925 goes at 2.8 without oc. I didnt't considered 1050ti because I doubt my specs could handle even lower models like 1050. I'm not from the US so prices are a bit different here: Second hand gtx 750ti about 50€ Brand new gtx 1050 about 125€ Brand new gtx 1050ti about 140€ Will I notice any difference between 750ti and 1050? Enough to pay more than twice? Thanks a lot for the answers!
In that case, no. Just get the second hand 750ti if it costs only 50Eur. Thuban at 2.8ghz will bottleneck even a 1050.
Hi again. Finally I couldn't buy the 750ti and knowing that I'm not going to use all the power of the 1050 I decided to buy a RX 460. After uninstalling old drivers and installing the new ones, everything seemed to work perfectly. The issue appear when I start the computer. First of all, looks like the new gpu doesn't receive signal when the pc starts and it takes like 5-10 seconds till the screen led stops flicking and become solid. I'm no longer able to see the initial screen of the mobo brand and model that use to appear at the very begining. Then a warning apperars, "System boot fail. Your system last boot..." If I press F1 to continue, Windows loads and works as usual. If I press DEL to enter bios setup and load default settings as it suggest, when the pc restars the warning appears again. So I have to skip it and press F1 to use the computer. I hope I have explained myself properly. Does anybody know what's happening? I'm a bit lost. Should I move this topic to ATI forum? Thanks a lot for helping me!! PS: Sorry for my bad grammar, english is not my mother tongue.
That RX460 probably does not support legacy bios systems.. Only newer UEFI bios. Should have gotten 1050 as it supports both, plus NV does much better on CPU limited systems.
But I'm using the computer right now. It should be black screen if legacy bios wasn't supported, don't you think? I can't return the gpu so...Is there any problem if I have to press F1 each time I start my pc? Am I going to damage something? Thank you for your reply!
You are not damaging anything by continuing. Only thing I can tell you is to make sure motherboard bios is updated, same for GPU.
Mobo bios is the latest avaliable and gpu drivers are also the newest. Another curious thing is that the warning doesn't always appear, I have just turned on the pc and there was no warning this time, but probably tomorrow it will come back. I'm less worried now, knowing that I'm not damaging anything by continuing. Thankyou very much for your help!
