    thx for the bioshock screenshots dude. depending on ur monitor, the trick is after u get it to 320 res, you also have to turn up the sharpness on ur monitor so it looks pixelated rather than blurry. otherwise it looks like a blurry mess.
    i have found this to be the case on my led monitor playing 320 res games. and i play on a 32inch tv heh.

    and the screenshots of bioshock at 320 don't look that great on here duz converting them to JPEG/resizing makes it smoother/blurrier.

    on my dosbox program, i still play duke3d and quake at 320 res even tho i could do much higher. too bad half-life 1 on steam now only allows 640 minimum

    For any DX9 game you could use SoftTH with the following configuration:

    [main]
    renderResolution=320x240 < or whatever dumbass resolution you want :)
    nonlocalFormat=RGB16D
    keepComposition=0
    smoothing=0
    debugD3D=0
    zClear=0
    vsync=1
    tripleBuffer=0
    screenshotFormat=jpg
    dllPathD3D9=auto
    dllPathDXGI=auto
    dllPathD3D11=auto

    [overrides]
    forceResolution=1 < this will likely be required because most games won't even let you select anything lower than 800x600
    antialiasing=0
    processAffinity=0
    FOVForceHorizontal=0
    FOVForceVertical=0

    [debug]
    compatibleIB=0
    compatibleTex=0
    compatibleVB=0
    enableVBQuirk=0

    [head_primary]
    sourceRect=0,0,320,240 < numbers here must match those above
    screenMode=1024x768 < your actual screen resolution

    So.. after seeing this thread, I had a friend who said he wanted to play Bioshock Infinite. Guy has an i5 3470 with an 8400GS. I told him he could MAX out the game, but with a catch.
    He pried, and asked what was it, looking VERY excited. I told him to play it on 32x18 :D

    Well.. you can't blame him. He owns 2x Xbox360 and 1x PS3.

    Plus there is another thing. In our country, or rather the loads of people I've come across, no one goes into the dept of games. They just play it and get it done with. Also no one wants to spend more on anything except education. When I was young I went through a gazillion loads of trouble to just get a 5670 (prior to 9400GT which took even more trouble to get). Got to make a thread about my legend some time :p

    thx for the SoftTH thing.

    guys im not gonna say ur wrong if u think it's ugly to play low res, just explaining why i like it., perhaps for anyone who shares my enjoyment or curious future web surfers googling for similar interests.

    btw i realised 320 by 240 is too low ugly (lol yes) on my 32 inch mon...the sweet spot is 490 by 370 resolution. you have to turn up your saturation and sharpness as well.

    trick is ur resolution should NOT be high enough to give away the low-resolution textures when viewed upclose. (ie walking up against a wall and seeing it's horrid blocky texture-filtered texture). when ur resolution matches or is lower than the lowest texture, you gain the illusion of "infinite" detail, in your imagination. like there is more to see beyond your resolution. it gives an "impression" of the game world, much like impressionism paintings.

    I get it, but your HL2 shots don't look at all like Monet. You need abstract forms to put your imagination in motion, all I see there are ugly pixels and aliasing.
    Also thanks for the good laugh with that cat pic
