+1, core i7 975, 6GB corsair GT stuff, but IMO i'de get a sound card plus quad SLI 295's.

plus some water cooling.. ect. :p

i think quad SLI outperforms tri 285's a bit, so idk. it takes less space.

i7 of your choice depends if you like to over clock or not.
    Corsair HX1000w Power Supply
    6g Corsair Dominator GT RAM
    EVGA gtx295 CO-OP x 2
    24" Monitor

    Something along those lines.

Didnt really look at prices I just told you the high end products.

If you have plenty of money left over go for water cooling as well

I'd put off between 2000 to 2500 for a freaking nice 30". From either Eizo or NEC. With that kind of budget you don't skimp on the monitor!

DUDE! that's a lot of money!

If I had that much money to spend on a computer I would get two 30" monitors, core i7 975, EVGA X58-Classified motherboard, Corsair Dominator GT 2000MHz(12 GB of them), 2 GTX 295 or I would wait for the GT300 to come out, Antec Nine Hundred Two, and a crazy a$s water cooling kit.

Maybe you would still have money left over, I would buy myself a G19 keyboard, but that's just me :D

Best thing you can do is grab a GTX275 and sit on the rest till the new stuff hits, DX11 Video cards, Win7, faster HDs and faster CPUs.
If DX11 was not 4-6 months away I would say jump on every thing you can get right now, but you will kick your self down the road.

Hell yeah.. spending 5k on a single PC is a little worthless IMO. You could get a totally dominating rig for half that and spend the rest of the cash elsewhere!

Besides if you spend on all the latest and greatest parts now, come a half year down the road all those parts will be worth half.. now THAT is what I call a waste of money. If you were lucky enough to come across that kinda chaching you have an obligation to get the most out of it do you not? Spening on cutting edge hardware is never getting the most out of your money..

    just my 2c

You need to budget it. The performance difference between a 2000 dollar computer and a 5000 dollar computer is negiligble at best and non-existant at worst. Get yourself a nice 2000 dollar computer (once DX11 cards are out) and hang onto it for as long as you dare. Then, you'll have 2000 more waiting for you to get yourself another computer, and you'll still be at the top of the charts and playing the newest games, maxed out.

After the second computer's done, you still have 1000 more for another. It's much better, trust me, to spend the money like that, than to blow all of it on a single computer that's 5-10% faster (if that) and then use trash, or blow money you don't have, afterward.

I agree with what other people said, keep what you got now, and wait for gtx3--'s. Youre gonna be sad when you just bought gtx 295's and you cant fully use dx11.
