I hope that 880 releases this year with at least 6GB of memory as vram requirements will start rising pretty fast.

As much as I am still dubious of CF, I may well be trying AMD again in the near future.

Nvidia's SLI support is rubbish at present with many of this years big releases either not supported or broken (Watch Dogs, TitanFall, W:TNO) I'm not going to be giving Nvidia any more money unless there is a substantial improvement.

I've seen 290X for $499.00 (non reference cooling), how Nvidia thinks it can sell a comparable card with less VRAM for ~$300.00 more is beginning to vex me no end.

What on earth uses 6GB? Or 5? Or 4?

It does? All I saw that extra vram didnt help one bit, still stream stuttered. :p

Anyway I dont need a new gpu yet, guess I'll wait for full GM210 aka Daddy Maxwell, already did that by Fermi and now Kepler.
    Not interested in mid-range overpricing.

All I've seen is close to 3, never had performance issues due to vram limit in that title.
My point is 6gb as a minimum is excessive.

New gen titles are just coming out. A lot of titles will be using more than 4GB pretty soon.

I am Hoping there will be 860ti that will be reasonably priced with nice performance it could be a nice replacement for 660ti sli to an 860ti sli setup I would need 1 860ti to be almost as quick as 660ti in sli to make it worth it or I wait for 960ti

I have loved the mid range cards in sli it gives me high end performance at 1080p without the extra cost of a high end GPU.

Don't judge by what you have seen so far, only by what's coming.

Don't even joke about it man, those model numbers could easily comee from Nvidia TITAN ZX(AWESOME) if they get the idea we'll be screwed, but tbh i would love to see gtx 870 beating or at least matching gtx 780ti, that was the case when gtx 670 came out and beat 580 in everything,

6GB is handy if you play at least at 1440p with 4-8x MSAA, even more so at 4k and it only makes sense if you have at least a 2way SLI going, otherwise it is indeed useless as you will run out of gpu "horsepower" before vram.

For me, gaming at 1440p with 4x MSAA and everything maxed a 4GB vram would be a sweetspot, but I wouldn't mind more because the more, the more futureproof it is. Games like Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein, Skyrim with insane resolution mods WILL use over 3GB vram at high resolutions, no question there. Not to mention new releases like GTA 5 PC (remember Max Payne 3 and its vram requirements...), Witcher 3, AC:Unity, etc.... al of these will eat up vram like peanutbutter.

Here we go again, mid rang GPU(GK/GF104) with a high end sku number @499.99

    My guess is we get a GTX 880 with +/- 10% of a 780Ti, then 2qt 2015 we get the 880ti for $699,99/$749.99 thats 20-30% faster.

If the 880 is 10% faster than the 780ti, overclock well and comes with a nice cooler for around £450, it might just be my next gpu.

Ive seen supposed specs for the GTX 880 already and if they're to be believed,no doubt its cheaper than the current equivalent because its not much stronger than the 780.

if you mean the leak that showed ~5.7tflops then yeah we're looking at 1ghz 780Ti or 1.2Ghz 780.

Not really upgrade for high-end GK110 users, GM210 would be more logical in the distant future, probably Q4 2015 or even Qx 2016.

If GM204 is fully enabled it should be 10-20% faster than GK110,also that leak ,the ~5.7tflops, is fake,it is not really that hard to figure that out.
The new cards will be cheaper because they will have a more simple and cheaper PCB.

Dunno about FLOP performance, this table didnt list that.
It does claim the 880 will be DX12,which i find highly suspicious.

What if fully enabled, any specs so far showed full not something half way..

I've seen at least 2-3 leaks and no one made it uber powerful, the most "accurate" was that with 5.7tflops.

btw those 10-20% you talking about is these 5.7tflops vs stock full GK110 with 4.9tflops or ~4.3tflops with 780gtx.
