I have a few DVD's that I would like to convert into simple .AVI's so the kids can watch them on the PC instead of having to put various disks in.

What is the easiest software to do this please?

    Thanks,

    Sy.

Handbrake doesn't convert to .AVI's anymore do they? I thought they stopped that a few versions back.

    DVD Shrink is another one.

What does it do then? Hope it's easy to use. Never done this before. It's just convenience more than anything.

Handbrake converts DVD, BD or Other Video formats to MP4. Essential turn your DVD collection in to small MP4 files to play on your PC, Laptop, Portable Device (iPod/iPad or Android based devices) or TV Media Player (Seagate FreeAgent Theater HD or WD TV HD Media Player for Example).

Remember you need a decryption app to read the data off your protected DVD or Blu-ray Disc.

You can't rip straight from DVD with a vanilla copy of Handbrake I don't think, it can't get round the CSS encryption that comes on most DVD's.
But, if you are legitimately owned the DVD movies, you can use it to handle the ripping process. follow this source.
