No I was talking about the OP. He disregarded all advice given and just did what he wanted, which is fine I guess. But lol. Especially given what he "upgraded" from.

ok for the record the fx8120 was £140, miles cheaper than the £200+ 2500k, bonus was its the BE one that's already at 8150 speeds. As i stated in a earlier post, i wanted to switch to AMD to complement my £300 graphics card because of the compatibility problems my card experiences with anything other than AMD stuff, ps all but the 2nd post where actually helpful the rest steered completely away from my original question so me posting this thread in the first place was a proper waste of ones time.

Not that the rest of your post made any sense, but where on earth do you shop for a 2500k to cost upward of £200? I bought my 3570K not that long ago for £170, 2500k's were around the same price.

    In fact: 2500k £170

You saved £30 for little more than a sidegrade. Congratulations, hope you're happy with it.

Trying to justify your purchase is one thing, making things up is another.

Only if you already have an AM3+ board. If not, get an i3 2100 or 2120 if your budget is low.

2120 is my country is still expansive and it is not on budget. That my concern.
What about between core i3 and FX 8120?

If an FX 8120 is cheaper than an i3 2120, then by all means go for it. It's a good overclocker.

Del_Boy - Now that you have bought a new cpu. Im curious what your thoughts are on your purchase. Does the speed feel like a upgrade? Im just wondering after reading this thread..

No change in skyrim, but other games like BF3 etc there is an increase in smoothness, my overall computing experience has not changed much although files and folders open a lot snappier, but that could just be because of new windows install, who knows.

I'm just weirded out by the fact the poster says amd cards only work with amd processors. I matched my amd card with the highest amount of pci-e lanes for future tri-fire and the best value overclocking chip on that platform and my 7970 performs excellently.

been using ati cars with intel chips for years with hardly no issues of course they will be 1 of two issues as its the pc mostly due to new cards been released and it takes a while for some decent drivers to come out but graphics card work on either amd or intel boards, had more trouble with nvidia side of things had a 8800gtx which was prone to get hot quick and crashing,
also cant see point in people upgrading their proccesoor all the time from a i7 to a newer i7. unless your pc is slowing down just go with best card out at the time.

Be careful bonermaniac, only weirdos get weirded out.
