Well kinda, over at CES Samsung had the new Odyssey gaming laptop on display. However somebody noticed something interesting on the spec list as a Radeon RX 570 is mentioned, which would be a mobile... Mobile AMD Radeon RX 570 Surfaces
So AMD is going the same road like with HD7000 and HD8000 series We will probably see VEga as Rx490/Fury 2/Vega and RX5xx will be used for OEM/Mobile builds.
Does it indicate a similar performance level? It could also mean two models, with the Nvidia one being more expensive, the AMD model being a bit more affordable.
If they're just going to rebadge then you'll probably be looking at 110-120W which is on the same level as the 980M or 1070 (notebook). On the other hand if its still polaris then performance will probably be around the GTX 970 and 1060, nonetheless still really good at 1080p games.
Good news hopefully. AMD needs something for the laptop side of their business. Nearly everyone who's into gaming laptops has moved over to Nvidia in the last few years. Nvidia must've made a killing with their laptop 970m, 980m and 980 cards. Haven't heard any negatives about their mobile pascal systems either. More competition heavily needed.
