It's quite, quiet isn't silent but at idle it hardly makes any noise at all.

My dual 680's are quieter than my old 580 classified. Like someone said earlier, my HDD is louder than the video cards.

Nope, I am neither deaf or have any loud case fans. As a matter of fact I have no case fans and keep my side panel off (something I just prefer).

Quiet and silent mean two different things (to me at least). Quiet being low noise within an acceptable range and silent being no sound at all.

I never said it was the quietest card I've owned or even the most quietest reference card I've owned..rather it's one of the few.

Overall I'm satisfied with the card..back to BF3

Well I guess if it is not quiet ENOUGH for me I can always go for an after market cooler right? they will do quiet ones ?

Quite some people got that on their 680's already and they get 55C Load Temps OCed with 40% Fan Speed.

I can tell you at 40% those coolers are inaudible.

You just need a good ventilated case, because 95% of the heat is exhausted inside. But i doubt you gonna buy a 680 and stuff it in a case with only 2 fans :)

Hell, mine has been pushing out SKYRIM and Fallout 3 both on Ultra and I have yet to actually hear it..

    Yes it is VERY quiet.

I would think u would only hear it if you have next to zero noise from your case/cpu fans etc.

    VERY impressed.

    Silent ~ no noise
GTX 680 idle ~ noise made
GTX 680 load ~ LOTS of noise made

For the majority of folks that build their systems wo/ regard for sound dampening yes. To those of us that frequent SCPR and research our fans/cases til we're blue in the face...no, not at all. In fact, I returned my reference 680 cause it drove me nuts. But, I'm probably in the minority of folks that don't care for loud noises in a computer...we need more of us honestly. :bang:

Wow if you think the reference GTX680 is loud then you must have super sensitive ears because I cant hear mine wen I am gaming

Very much depends on several factors.

I have Gigabyte Windforce and they are super quiet compared to reference - which I have tried - and reference and not loud that's for sure.

My 680 is very silent, even under load while gaming I cant hear the fan. My case fans are louder and they aren't loud by any means. Most powerful yet most silent card I've had.

I have golden ears and can tell when I'm listening to 320 MP3's or FLAC on my current setup.

    My 4 case/cpu fans spin @ 600 RPM. They are SFLEX's.

    :)
