Nice going as always. They got that design ever since the nVidia 200 Series.

Been using their coolers since my 7800GTX's, never let me down.

Some may find them look cheap because of the plain copper and aluminium, but the performance is outstanding, not to mention the silence factor.

It's a shame they never made one for the GTX590 else i would probably be running that. But i guess they got taste of the poor VRMs and ditched the project for that.

Not required on a single card, even with a high OC. Temps are more than manageable on the stock cooler.

AC's products aren't really competing in the best-cooling category, rather the decent-cooling-while-silent one.

Which I've yet to see a stock cooling solution cover.

So I suppose whether or not it's required depends on your priorities, personally I value silence far higher than performance.

Good point but fan noise doesn't bother me. I generally have classical music, rock/heavy metal playing, the radio or a FPS running FTW.:)

Or you can just get this and save yourself $100 and not void the warranty:

I love my AXP, I run it at 25% fan speed all the time and its silent, I can run it at 100% and its barely noticeable. I think my NH-D14 is louder lol, but I think if OEMs start making their own custom cooler from the box then it may look more attractive in price point and not to mention I think the the Gigabyte one glows blue as well? :p

Definetely not true, especially for my 580 lightnings. Twin frozr 3 is the best 2slot air cooler, the accelero is silent while being 20-30c cooler. I can oc higher and use less voltage at the same time because thermal conductivity is much better.

I use one right now... not sure if it's worth taking up 3 slots but it certainly cools well enough. It would have to be pushed to 100% with the overclocks listed and kept at 100% for a while to hit 60C. Compared to a stock cooler it's silent at even 100%.

But $100 for the new model, jeez. I thought the price I paid for mine was horrible... whatever it was, $90 or something.

Copper is quite a bit more expensive to produce, more heavy, which would be an issue for a cooler of this size, and will tarnish over a long period of time. Also, while copper may be much better at dissipating heat, aluminum is better at absorbing more heat.

Pretty fair price to be honest. It's a large cooler with 3 fans. Noone complains about the Price of the NH-D14 either?
