    An AMD document for retail partners spelled out specifications of the first three FX Vishera processors by AMD by the way of Expreview. The processors come with AMD's Piledriver architecture and much...

    Can you not make it so the image can actually be read? Its so small even enlarged that i cant make out what it says, I have this problem with a lot of these kind of images that you post. :(

    Wait, so this is Piledriver? 10% faster Bulldozer successor?

    i5 what? If you mean the original Nehalems, then sort of. In some tests shown from an engineering sample it was about clock for clock equal to a Nehalem with half as many cores... so roughly half the IPC per core it seems. So as a whole that might be considered good, but for things which aren't completely multi-threaded, that's pretty horrible.

    To enthusiasts a lot will depend on how much PD can OC. If it can OC to like 6GHz on air, that would be wonderful for those who using fully multi-threaded programs assuming it comes in at a cheap price. But that's highly unlikely considering the 8150 can roughly do only 5GHz on air and is overpriced considering the competition makes it seem like a joke.

    If the top model is cheap enough then AMD may be onto a wineer for people who use alot of threaded apps, theres not point in AMD trying to take the performance crown at this point.

    Piledriver 15% to 20% Boost in IPC

    This is from a so called insider. To me this makes sense. He also claims the upcoming Steamroller via Q1 2013 will be 45% or more faster IPC over Bulldozer.

    If my HTPC ever needs to be upgraded during the "Piledriver era", the E2-1800 or the A4-5300 (depending on price) look great.

    Coming this October 2012. AMD is quickly replacing all Bulldozer CPU's with Piledriver ASAP. Then in early 2013, AMD wants to replace all Piledriver cores with Steamroller.

    Performance over Original Bulldozer: :david::david:

    HD 8120 = Bulldozer = 0% (2011)
    HD 8320 = Piledriver = 15% - 20% (2012)
    HD 8520 = Steamroller = 35% - 45% (2013)
    HD 8720 = Excavator = 70% - 85% (2014)
    HD 8920 = Crane = 105% - 120% (2015)

    Speculate your hearts out...

    I want the competition between intel and amd but fact is the amd is slower and currently has better gpu in the cpu but intel is now makeing that go away also with new procs. I hope amd can pull a rabbit out of the hat soon and make a comeback.

    it dosnt matter how well intel GMA/IGP benches, their drivers for their video have always been suspect at best.....

    top titles that are used for benching get tested, older or lesser known titles many times have serious bugs from my exp.....its sad but, intels never been good at the whole software side thing....hardware they can do well....but anybody who remembers the i740 will also remember how horrible the driver support was.
