Actually the cards don't look too bad now. Its a very neat HSF. The most important thing...its expelling hot air from the BACk this time! Took nvidia long enough.

Why is DDR4 not being used? What benifits does DDr3 have apart from cost

Nobody's really sure. Samsung said that not enough was produced for the demand. There are also rumours its very expensive to manufacture

Few months ago everyone touted that GDDR 4 memory was cheaper to make than GDD 3 >_>

I think it is actually cheap to manufacture. But because yields are so low cost is becoming expensive. If 1 out of 5 are working then you effectively just increased your production cost 5 fold. While it is cheaper to produce per chip. It is more expensive to produce per working chip.

the GTX seems good , but i think the GTS will be a winner , doesnt need as much power is smaller , probably cooler aswell , ans the specs are not that much different

Main thing to notice is the fact that the card is CPU limited so much.

If you loo at victors page you notice that after he OC's just a bit to 3.6ghz his kentsfield he gets about 1k more score in 3dmark06.

    Very interesting.

that's true, even if there is a bottleneck, it's not like you're gonna notice it in gaming. You're probably gonna play Crysis at max settings and at 1280x1024 with really smooth fps anyway

Just read that Nvidia is (according to an german site) recommending a 400/450 Watt PSU with 30/26 (GTX/GTS) Amps on the 12 volt rail for the cards, but why 2 power connectors? Maybe one for the core and one for the memory or something equal? Or else they're totally wrong.

Anyway even if I had the money/setup for this card, I wouldn't buy it, because it's the first of it's generation and therefor far from perfect.
