Doubt they will, piracy is apparently pretty low on TW games.

No idea on pricing but I will be buying the collectors and and the standard.

Rome 2 Total war featured in PC Gamer. Not a whole lot of details about the strategy side are in the mag but some interesting stuff about the engine and battles are in it.

I'll get my hopes up when I see actual units fighting and the list of nations + units.

Otherwise it's a nice vid but looks like scripted cutscenes.

My main gripe is cpu optimisation + loading times. Unless they rectify this they wont get a pre-order from me.

It's gonna be a tall order to top the original rome and atm CA seems more interested to flog their current engine with it's disappearing faces/blooms issues/lack of cpu cores usuage/loading times/cut down content with dlcs at a later date.

Interestingly they just had a modding summit which seems to me more of a pr stunt. Time will tell whether something good comes of this...

I can't wait for the History Channel to use this engine to recreate some of the major historical battles like they did with the first Rome:Total War.

^ I just googled this as I didn't know about it, lol. They actually made good use of it, I'm impressed.

must say this is looking very promising.

long way to go but apparently they got more funding from sega. the guy talking did mention "optmisation" so perhaps they are doing something with the warscape engine.

i banged on about this over on the total war forums...wierd i loved napoleon and it ran more or less great then shogun2 and fots for me were a stepback in terms of perf and graphical issues (the bloom saga/disappearing faces/dancing bodies).

so let's say am not the biggest warscape fan but seems like from the footage things are def going in the right direction.

now we will see cut content or factions that will be dlc after release? forts on the campaign map, and perhaps upgradeable weps/armour (to name but a few things).

one of the things am not 2 impressed by is all factions are going to sound the same. which for me is a bit lame as perhaps some kind of minimal effort could be done to say for example have my gauls charging shouting something their old tongue (i do realise ancient languages are tricky to do).
