Well, not a Tesla, but both use GK110, but Titan have absolutely nothing aside the DP enabled you find on Tesla or Quadro ( no ECC memory, no professional computing stuff, etc etc )... And they have just disable more DP processors on the 780.. ( disabled, not removed them so you have 1/24 DP rate instead of 1/3). ( then the SMX for increase clock )

I'm pretty sure Titan will be phased out soon. No reason for its existence as a gaming card when 780ti is released.

yep, as a gaming card, it'll be irrelevant.

No offense eclap but you have no room to call anyone a fanboy. Nothing wrong with it just calling a spade a spade.

I did say essentially, was on my phone so was being lazy was simplifying why the card costs so much more when it offers little in comparison compared to the 780 when it comes to gaming.

when have I ever been a fanboy? Only because I used to recommend one card on this forum because it was a great card and best value for money, meaning I had good reasoning behind it? come off it.

I don't like being branded a fanboy. Yes, atm I run an AMD gpu. But I've also been a S3 fan, a 3Dfx fan, and then Nvidia (from early Riva TNT days, in fact Riva TNT replaced my Voodoo2 back in the day) and AMD. I simply buy the best bang for buck at given time. Same goes for cpus, I loved my AMD Athlon 64 and x2, then they fell asleep and I switched to Intel.

So, every time I'm upgrading my rig, I'm looking to get the most for my money and I really don't care who makes the parts, as long as I'm getting the best performance. That is by no means what fanboys do. I'm pretty sure my next gpu will be an AMD gpu, unless I keep this 7950 for a while longer and then it might be a Maxwell next year, you never know.

I have no brand loyalties, I just try to offer good advice. Don't really know why I bother tbh.

Anyway, back on topic. What do you guys think will happen with the Titan pricing? Surely the 780ti will be faster than the Titan, most factory overclocked 780 already are. I really struggle to see a market for Titan. Oh and when is this 780ti supposed to launch?

Uhm ultra enthusiast has always been like that. 690, 7990(short lived), 8800 ultra, all the way down to 6800 ultras, x800 xt pe. all these cards were marginally faster then the previous version but cost much more. How are you not "getting" this. Its been going on forever. The best cards have never been about value. factory oced 670s beat 680s, good oced 7870s beat 7950s, 7950 oced beats 7970, that cant be used as a point when youre not taking into account for both cards can OC as well.

you seem to be missing the point. the 780ti will be faster than the titan so branding titan ultra high end is misleading, it'll be the 2nd fastest nvidia gpu. This is why I'm asking about it's future pricing.

I know about diminishing returns you get when it comes to things like this, I've been around for enough years to understand how the market works.

So much negativity lately here on guru3d.

Even all this effects us as positively, people still argue and make ridiculous statements.

Says who? Nvidia hasnt released specs of it, nor do any of us know what they are. For all we know its either higher clocked 780, 780 with more vram, same amount of smxs as titan but with less vram, lower clocks, and no DP. All it has to be is equal to or faster than the 290x(which weve only seen 2 legit cherry picked 4k benches of 2 games) and they will add it in between the titan and 780 price point.

Even if were faster than the titan, which isnt strictly a gaming card, then they would phase it out and release titan ultra with a fully unlocked core and keep it at the 1000 price point.

dude, have you not seen any of the factory overclocked gtx 780 reviews? vast majority of them beat the titan. So even if the 780ti is just an overclocked 780, it'll be faster than the titan.

I think you might be right about the titan ultra coming before maxwell though, that would make sense for nvidia.
