So it's a 120Hz that uses some trick to effectively double that so it looks like 240Hz?

No idea what VN panel is either, I guess this is still a sort of TN though but I don't know these things all that well.

Will be nice to see IPS or better with 120Hz though, one day. :)
(LED, OLED or whatever might be around by then.)

VA is very sensitive to pressure and heat.

Anyways, i need to get rid of my EIZO EV2436W because the IPS Glow is distracting in Games with dark areas. I will probably end up getting the CX240 depending on the noise of the cooling fans.

I hate IPS panels , i had one and quickly swaped it for PVA display.
IPS have this horrible glow(bulish kinda).

In my oponion IPS panels are not suitable for gams or watching movies because of terrible black which glows , someone who had IPS will know what i'm talking about.

The panel shouldn't have that effect from what little I know at least (And there's various types of IPS too.) so that should have been more about it's calibration and such but again my knowledge about these things is pretty limited.

Seems I was wrong with that previous post as well, monitor does look to be quite good actually, at least according to this.

For about €500 this is a really nice EIZO monitor.

I my self have EIZO screen, no doubt about their quality but i rather have worse panel latency than bad black colour , for me this is top priority.

This panel is VA , my FS2331 has VA panel and it's excellent , in this one they improved latency(this is ONLY flaw i found in my monitor) so its even better.

I would never trade VA/PVA for IPS panel, belieave it will have glow , i seen at least couple monitors with IPS, different types.

    Sums it up very well

Well I have FS2333 model and its not bad.

But I agree there is a difference, (P)VA has better contrast/darks. My old monitor was s-pva and its the first thing I noticed.

I wish Eizo would have released this monitor 1 year ago, I would pick this FG2421, well probably.. 500€ is a bit expensive :p

    HDMI: 15 - 100 kHz, 23 - 122 Hz
    DVI: 31 - 138 kHz, 59 - 122 Hz
    DisplayPort: 31 - 138 kHz, 49 - 122 Hz

What happens when you play on 120Hz flat screen and have lets say 80FPS ?

Nothing, I guess less tearing with vsync off... At least that's what i see if fps drop ~40-50fps vs ~62-67fps

That's what i experience myself at the moment with my EV2436W. The IPS Glow in corners is extremely distracting.

    I came from a EIZO S2231W which was S-PVA - CCFL.

    Just a shame this FORIS ain't 16:10.

After reading the FlatPanel review i guess it can be compared to my old EIZO S2231W which uses an S-PVA Panel?

No annoying Glow like IPS right?

At least things are finally moving away from horrible TN panels! All this needs is 27" and 1440p and it would be absolutely incredible.:thumbup::thumbup:

Not ideal but it still feels better then 80 fps on a 60 Hz monitor.

Hum this is more of a marketing scheme. The truth is the human eye still can see the downfall of interlaced video, particularly half the lines missing on a refresh when looking at fast moving objects on the screen. So, if (i didn´t read the story btw) this monitor is intended for gaming it kind of shots himself in the foot to those who know the basics about how hardware works. Sure, a not so knowledge kid who thinks that bigger is better will look at this and think it´s the best thing ever but oh well ignorance is a easy way to exploit some dollars.

Basically priced themselves out of the very market they are trying to attract.

It's analogous to being a politician and condoning legalizing hemp for personal usage. The people who would vote for this, unfortunately cannot be bothered to leave the confines of their living room and probably don't even register to vote in the first place.

The politician loses votes on both sides as a result.

So here Eizo are; trying to make a high-refresh gaming monitor by pricing themselves out of reach.

    Srsly...

Gimme the option for a decent panel and high refresh rate and then make it too expensive and not even proper 24" or 27" to boot.

'Grats on screwing this up royally, because looking at the competition you got no chance Eizo...

Until patents are lifted we'll always face unsatisfactory results, how can innovation progress when every tech is tightly locked down..
