It's not stable then.. If it flashed ok, you shouldn't have ANY artifacts anywhere. If you do, the card can't handle those clocks, or it needs better cooling. Simple as that.
i have radeon His 9800 pro 128mb ICeq @ 380/334 reslashed to 9800XT @ 425/370... evry thing is going okay no artifact's ... but.... the problem is that in 3dmark01 se i have only 14490... my SYS spec is : Processor: Athlon Xp 2600+ Operating System: XP Pro Mobo: Asus a7n8x-8 RAM: DDR 1024(400 mhz) Storage: Western Digital 80 GB IDE 7200 rpm ATA 100 Audio: Audigy 2 ZS i'm using ATI cata. 5.3 what shal i do to make my score higher?????
You are getting a low(ish) score in 01 because that benchmark takes into account the whole of your system, rather than primarily the video card like 03 & 05 do. To increase your score you could OC your CPU....
but you know why specialy in 3dmark01 it's low.... in 3dmark03 340 it score 6890?????? and one more thing i compaerd mine score in both 3dmark01 an 03 on the future mark site... and i found that the computer with my spec score with same card more than mine why??? if any one know plz tell me???
Because 03 and 05 almost completely GPU orientated. They take into account the ability of the video card and not much else. What was the spec of the machine you saw @ the ORB? Your 03 score is fine.

and one more thing is it danger to change agp Volt??? i heard that it make the card more abile to be overclocked?? is that right???
It is probably the FSB and some such other tweaks... perhaps latencies etc, they both make a real difference in 01 scores. Changing AGP voltage is pointless in most cases. It can help stability at high FSBs sometimes, but generally it's considered best to leave it at 1.5v It is the voltage going to the slot, not the card.
I have a 9800PRO with the correct Samsung memory but has a R350 core. RivaTuner says its a R350 core. I have not pulled the HS to verify yet. I have a new VGA cooler on the way before I flash it if it it possible. How safe am I to flash it to 9800XT?
jbiel; R350 core = don't flash it. I actually removed the heat sink and checked just to be sure, and it was in fact an R350 core. I had flashed it before and I was getting crazy artifacting, colored pixels and warping textures. I reflashed it back to the proper memory and even replaced the thermal paste with arctic 5 and it works fine now.
if u have a r350 core, just edit ur bios thru RaBit and change device id to 4E4A. This will softmod it to an xt, and make ur radeon be read as an xt everytime u install the drivers
Cause if he oced it he would have a risk of frying the card with the run-of-a- mill cooling on the card.
Its been probably at least a year since I bios modded my card. At that time, I had never flashed a graphics card bios. But after reading Rojak's guide (several times) and following step by step verification of my card as able to be flashed, type of memory, etc., I gained the confidence to do it, and I was successful. Now my original Sapphire 9800pro 256mb is a "Hercules 3D Prophet 9800xt classic 256mb". I was at that time on air so I did make my own heatsink for it and it o/c'd above xt defaults. Now, with some liquid refreshment, it has overclocked further. I'm currently still using the card @ 450/780 stable and no artifacts. If you're looking possibly to mod your card, do yourself a favor and read the related threads and read the guide. Ask questions and educate yourself as much as possible. Then hopefully you will have a successful experience. Mistakes could be costly or at the very least, aggravating. Good luck.
Good post Rukk (has to be said.) I often see people who are just too "flash happy" without care nor concern for the consequences, so hopefully your post will encourage more thought.
Hello... I want one of those coolers,..Looks the job ,..I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb..... Saved all your Pics incase I Try Clocking,..Never did it before... Thanks
Hi, I have this card I was just wondering how I get the heatsink/fan off. Also Ive checked with overclocking and I do get artifacts at the XT Speeds, however it runs very hot. I have ordered an ATI Silencer. Can I put the new bios on and declock it while im waiting for my silencer to arrive?
I bought a Sapphire 9800 pro 128mg card from NCIX.com on sale for $164 Canadian. I took off the heatsink and sure enough, it was the 360 core. It has the Samsung ram on it as well. I tried the Gigacube bios that Rojak recommended and got artifacts galore. I edited a Sapphire XT bios to speeds of 405/350 and flashed the card with it. Success! It works great now as an XT. I ordered a better cooler witht the RAM sinks, and I'm just waiting for it to arrive. Isn't the internet great? As for your question loomx, the two black pins that go through the fan and card hold it on. Just pinch the end of each pin on the back side of the card together and push it out. You should probably get some ram sinks for your card as well, as the ram runs really hot. You can use RaBit to change the clock settings of the bios so your card runs a bit slower(That's what I did).
