I would definitely get that second GTX 650 and i5 at the same time if you can. SLI is definitely the way to go. I tried Crossfire again for about a year what a friggin joke that was, nothing but driver problems, regretted it and towards last, daily display driver crashes.

Now that I'm back on SLI with a pair of ASUS GTX 760's which are mini ITX card's no problems at all.

I have heard people saying that crossfire is ****..
Guess I will go for the i5 first and then any other thing....
does cpu bottlenecks also affects gpu overclocking.?

Won't prevent you from overclocking, but makes it pointless. If the cards can't receive enough data at stock clocks, they won't do any better when overclocked.

    Yeah correct....
Does it gets a performance hit cause of pcie 2.0 slot, coz the card is 3.0 compatible..?

Yeah, CrossFire is ... erm ... complete and utter ****.

I recommend selling the card and going for a stronger single GPU, like 280X / GTX770 at least.

What nonsense in this thread. Oh, crossfire sucks, drivers suck. Yawn.

Op, you really don't want to SLI 650ti. Get a single better gpu.

Did they ever get frame pacing enabled in DX9-10?

Nope. PCIe 2.0 works just fine.

    What games do you play?

DX10 yes, along with DX11. The games I have tried in DX9 already hit a CPU bottleneck so there's no microstutter either. The two games I could think of that might benefit from CrossFire are The Witcher 2 and Crysis. Haven't tried the former but the latter hits a CPU bottleneck easily.

Cool but that's in your very powerful system was wondering for a friend of mine he's running a 6850 and was contemplating picking a second one up for cheap.

Mmmm if he plays DX9 games that will not bottleneck then no, I don't advise going with CF in that scenario.

AMD has display driver crashes that haven't been fixed. I had a lot of micro stutter that still hadn't been fixed even with Catalyst 13.12 and I highly doubt any of these issues will be fixed in the first WHQL release out of AMD. When I had the 7850's I couldn't even load up a lot of mod's for Skyrim without Skyrim crashing. So tell me how AMD videocards are better than Nvidia.

With my GTX 760's I can have a lot of mod's installed and play them without Skyrim crashing.

who said AMD gpus are better than nvidia? and all your issues seem to be pebkac. I have no driver crashes, no micro stutter. Skyrim crashing was mostly due to bad mod install, it's pretty normal for Skyrim to crash with a lot of mods, if not done properly.

AMD GPUs are great. So are NVidia's. The drivers do make a difference though.

After installing the first Mantle driver, my 7950 became useless. All of my games would crash within 10-15mins. Had random driver crashes on desktop. System would hardlock (either when my display turned off or my system attempted to sleep). The only thing I could do without crashing, was browse the web in Chrome. Even using IE resulted in driver crashes.

When I'm ready to start playing WoW again, I'll give the 7950 another shot if I still have it since WoW hates Multi-GPU.
