    Notes: (Tested with 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions) - Subtle, no issues so far, best solution since the other compatible flags bleeded through game elements like fog, fire, magic portals and water.
    In "X:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\BladesOfTime" folder, you will find "settings.blk" that contains "ssaoQuality:i=2", saw no difference after changing that, i think that the ingame ssao doesn't work :3eyes: But just to make sure, change this setting to "0".
    The game itself has a lot of prebaked AO, mostly on vegetation.

    Notes: HBAO+ is nearly imperceptible on everything except the walls and blocks in this game. Sceenshots of the walls included, since that's the only thing that's really changed.

    Screenshot of game without hbao here, just to give you an idea about the visuals when looking at the environment instead of walls.

    Just letting you know that for extremely old, uncommon, or indie games, I'm going to do one screenshot of each if the game has simplistic graphics that make it extremely obvious the effect you are getting. Otherwise i'll include 2-3 sets.

    At least this way I can cover a lot of lesser known game titles within a reasonable timeframe. And yes I am definitely checking for flags switching off on, and usually won't accept anything like that, even slightly. I'd rather include no flag than a flawed flag.

    Most of these indie titles are lucky to have one working flag as well. That's unity for you ;)

    Notes: Filter to make the game black and white with red touches used - by default. Hbao+ is impossible to see when the game is black and white - however the game has ingame settings to enable the game to use color. This profile is assuming you disabled the black and white mode.

    Example of ingame filter at default: http://i.imgur.com/T6ISJLc.jpg

    Game does not use SSAO natively, so there is nothing to disable in the unreal engine ini files.

    We can also add Sleeping Dogs to the "not recommended" list:
    http://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=10408375&postcount=102

    Not a single official or custom DX11 AO profile has any impact on IQ in this game :(
    Fortunately ingame SSAO=High looks quite nice when combined with downsampling.
    I don't have the "Definitive Edition", so this was tested with the normal version of SD.

    The in game AO is especially horrid.

    Just walk into any house, then look back through the doorway at grass underneath any fence.

    It's horrid.

    I'd rather just have no AO at all.

    SSAO Medium reduces it a little. But it's still there

    Won't this turn off other effects though?

    If 0010 works with post processing disabled. I will DEFINITELY list that and remove the first post entry for it.

    I wasn't aware of this setting at all when I tried the game. So that makes me happy!

    Would you mind taking some more comparisons, like at the start of stage one and make a proper post then?

    I would love it!

    Hey I have been adding hbao profiles through nividia inspector for some time now, a lot of games have AA and hbao flags, i keep saving these to a master file and then re-importing them whenever i update drivers.. I wonder if i export the "changed" profiles, perhaps casuals could have access to "universal hbao+ and sparse grid supersampling support" by simply importing my profile instead of adding it individually per game.

    Just a thought.

    Hm, probably better off not that way tbh. Could be other conflicts.

    Best for people to just sit down and use their brain for a few seconds.

    I also would only export profiles in to nvidia .Nip format as well. Overriding the whole database with the nvidia txt format, will override any changes to the driver made via driver updates.

    No you can import export "only customized profiles" which is basically a nip with multi profiles, it's not the whole nividia database .txt method.

    I'd rather people use their brains as well, because they would get a clearer understanding as to how this works. But I've noticed a large amount of people on this forum are just "I want one setting, let me tick it" people. Which is why dsr is catching on with them quite so much. ;)

    Or hell, we could even do a nip database. Although that sounds like a lot of work.

    That is what I'm trying to do with my master thread :)
    It actually contains many customized profiles in .nip format.
    But of course I can't do it all myself ;)

    And DSR is just fancy downsampling, really.
    I think people who have visited various compatibility bits threads for years will appreciate how powerful custom AA, AO and SLI profiles are compared to basic 2x2 downsampling.

    Back in the good old days, downsampling was something you used when all other proper AA methods didn't work.
    It really surprises me how impressed some people are by DSR, like NVIDIA reinvented the wheel or something.
    For example when GTA 4 came out in 2008, everybody criticized that the only way of getting any decent AA was to use downsampling.
    Strange how the exception has become the rule :3eyes:

    i tried to find a flicker-free flag for "Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons", and i found "2F", but it bleeds through the fog, all of the other, mostly UE3, compatible flags (0x00000010, 0x00000016 (not UE3), 0x00000020, 0x00000021, 0x00000024, 0x00000025, 0x00000026, 0x00000030, 0x00000034 (engine unknown).) flickers like this -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzWYA1lxcfs&list=UU0DBhWM_Taayulefvp2Llug

    NO AO -> http://i.minus.com/ifXtuvttTxku7.png
    0x00000030 -> http://i.minus.com/iCjJRhX34bR8n.png
    0x0000002F -> http://i.minus.com/ibahHXVT6Hven6.png

    better example of "2F" bleeding in action -> http://i.minus.com/iFHk9m5xJzLNU.png

    Update: After more gameplay, i've noticed that even "2F" sometimes flickers. So, based on my testings, HBAO is impossible without flickering! :bang:

    DSR is nice to have though. Because it stacks with everything.
