:rolleyes::rolleyes: ...Read the entire thread, not just parts of it.
You must totally clean out 10.4 (not just uninstall)and then install 10.5 and you wont have the temp and clock issue with overdrive enabled ,at least with duel 5970's i don't.Other cards ,i don't know.

I know people are posting from around the world and communication can be
challenging at best, thats understandable. The fact is on 2X5970's in CFX with
overdrive enabled, it will not change your clocks or temps with 10.5 driver.

    I use 8.74 driver

    About the 2d clocks...
If I enabled or disabled overdrive, doesn't matter and use default settings , I have 157/300 and 400/1200. But only when I overclock the card I have 400/1200 and 400/1200 and no flickering on the second monitor.

So try it out when u have only a single card/monitor, your speeds goes to 157/300, but if u overclock....

    I shall install 10.5a and see .

10.3 performance is a bit higher than 10.5 .. so unless u play something that comes with issues under 10.3 and gets fixed in 10.5 .. or any other general issues that one might get that got fixed .. you should remain with 10.3 imo

When I installed 10.5 it broke the anandtech site in IE8. Every six seconds when the site runs a script to refresh images, the browser window would become garbled. The fix for me was to set the "Force Offscreen Compositing" option in IE8.

I'm not positive the problem was an ATI driver issue, but it happened right after the 10.5 installation, and I had never seen the problem before. I was too lazy to go back to 10.4 to test, since I had a solution.

I got a complete green screen crash today while the game was waiting in between races using 10.5, never had this issue with 10.4

Maybe will try 10.3 again if people are getting better fps

Rofl, gona twitter him about getting the dual monitor fix removed from the next set of drivers and up as you all kicking off about it, you want the flickering back, so lets hope he says they'll do it for you all. :)

So the flickering is purely due to 2D clock speeds being too low to support multi screens ?

Well this is my first upgrade with ATI drivers from 10.4 to 10.5 and my system is super unstable. I can't launch Red Faction Guerrilla at all and I think I could in 10.4 atleast before I did a complete system reinstall. The drivers crash constantly for me even when running a little bench or a web Page. I have no idea what I am doing wrong but I think I am going back to 10.4.

10.5 WHQL was causing crashes in BFBC2 for me...required a hard reboot. Didn't have that problem ever with 10.4a so I switched back. Anyone else have this issue? I have a 5870.

EDIT: Nevermind, fixed it. It was the newest Realtek audio drivers causing the issue.

The drivers fine then i notice they was acting strainge and my fps went down and my clocks kept going crazy. So I in up going back to 10.4a preview drivers but I kept the 10.5 profiles installed.

I fiqure it was prolly happening to because i am on cross fire.

    High 2D clocks fix

    Hello all!
I've found a temporary solution for high Overdrive 2D clocks problem and single monitor users!
I've loaded my bios with Radeon Bios Editor 1.25 and I've found that exist 2x3 profiles/groups of bios powersaving state.
01->02->03 (Catalyst 10.4 with my card) and 05->06->03 (Catalyst 10.5).
Modified "Clock info 05" lines, now I've 200/300MHz (or 157 or 180 etc) with 0.95v!

Same here. It seems older opengl apps are broken with this new driver. I bet it has something to do with the introduction of OpenGL 4.0 and hopefully we'll see a fix next month. For now I have reverted back to 10.4 as quake live has been the majority of my play time lately.
