A bit of information on the "Z Top Disable" Hyper-Z setting:

Ray Adams stated the following on the DriverHeaven forum:
Quote:
Z Top Disable - Similar to Disable HyperZ

It will disable HSR - Hidden Surface Removal or in other words HyperZ. Read about HyperZ on ATI's web site.

Example: if there's a tree in front of a barn, with HyperZ enabled, it won't render the portion of the barn masked by the tree, thus IMPROVING performance. Disabling it forces it to render the proper faces of both the tree and the barn, adding more work to the stack and slowing the card down.
Conclusion: Do not tick "Z Top Disable" under 99% of circumstances, as it will reduce performance!
