Bugatti Veyron - Owned by a V8

Soo, it looks like the Veyron is not the fastest road car in the world anymore. A new car which costs 2 times less than the Veyron just won the title of the worlds's fastest road car

http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/21/b...mph-top-speed/

Barabus TKR

1005 HP
V8 Twinturbo, 6.0 liters
0-100 km/h in 1.67 seconds
Top speedL 430 km/h

I fear that the Veyron will leave Bugatti with major dephs coz now one is gonna buy it!

Jeremy 07-29-2006 10:51

Geeezzz thats quick. Wish my Honda Accord went the fast! lol

Sash 07-29-2006 10:55

it would fall apart :D not meant to be rude, but the chassis could not handle that speed :P

allesclar 07-29-2006 11:02

also porsche are realeasing a new car to contend for the title too i heard on top gear.

ultimate360 07-29-2006 11:06

Dang that's fast.

aircool 07-29-2006 11:08

fast but too bad a human body would be dead 0-62 1.6 secs only RC cars do scale speed of that

We can handle 0-62 in 1.6secs.

Sash 07-29-2006 11:11

well, you don't really have to push the pedall all the way...

Yea, true.

aircool 07-29-2006 11:12

meh FIXED

Sash 07-29-2006 11:13

i just realized, 1.6 seconds means the time you need to read this:

the barabus is very fast!

MrOuija 07-29-2006 12:46

Yeh already saw that one. Doesn't make any change on the sales of the Veyron though, think every single one of em that was lined up for the production this year is already sold. Mostly in the US of A. They're also trying to build the Targa version. BTW..it was already known that the Bugatti Veryon isn't the fastest road car available as soon as it got announced. Saleen built an upgrade for the Saleen S7 twin turbo which boosted the engine 'till 1000HP. Dutch link:

Any site with better specs? The ones on the official site are way too vague.

micketh 07-29-2006 14:34

wonder how many gear changes that takes.

Mad Cow 07-29-2006 14:45

I'm guessing it can do that speed easily in 2nd gear, maybe even first.

EDIT: Probably first, the Viper and Corvette Z06 can do it.

Dude the Veyron was never about the money... they are making a massive loss on each... so selling less actually saves them money as they take 5 million to make and they sell for 840,000 or so...

Also I am calling BS on those numbers... 6.0L Twin-Turbo V8 cannot kick out those kind of numbers. It makes no logical sense. The turbos would have to be sequential because to achieve a number like 1005 you would neeed a massive turbo running high boost which means boat loads of lag which makes a 0-60 in 1.6 next to impossible on a 6.0L V8...

Also 270 top speed is way too high... the Veyron was limited by tire technology so it wasn't lack of power that was the problem. This leads me to ask... where the extra 15-20mph came from on the Barabus... it should really be limited by the same thing.

Look I find it very very hard to believe a 6.0L Twin-Turbo V8 is going to beat an 8.0L Quad-Turbo W16. I will eat my words if Top Gear grabs this car and tells me the numbers are real... until then the Bugatti is still the fastest car on the planet in my eyes. And don't tell me about the new S7... I need to see the real performance not a bunch of estimated numbers on a website.

Tom F 07-29-2006 16:52

I think those numbers are achieveable - i've seen an Evo which is a 2.0 I4 kick out 900 - 30 years ago they were getting 8 or 900hp out of those equivallent sized V8s, normally aspirated - emission laws will be tighter now, but i bet it does have that power.

I think the tyres will be the limitting factor here - especially if it's turbo. It'll get onto boost and just try to break the tyres loose...

Sprecker 07-29-2006 17:29

It's a shame the Barabus is as ugly as a rusted out IROC. Who's idea was it to put that pig nose on the rear?
From reading the comments on the site there is only two poeple that seemed to think it was even possible.
Barabus seems to be a paper dream. The Veyron is still the real deal until proven other wise.

The Kyle 07-29-2006 17:42

Hahaha....owned. My ninja will only do 0-60 in 3.75 seconds.

Munky 07-29-2006 17:47

That car is wack looking. I'd rather have a veyron any day of the week over that. Plus, the 1.67 time is an estimate. Until it actually happens, I won't believe it.

dcx_badass 07-29-2006 21:08

I've done 0-60 in 2.7 on the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster at disney. :P :D

r3g 07-29-2006 21:45

and it only costs 500,000.. what a deal ^_-

A NASCAR cup motor is 5.7 litres 2 valve per cylinder a single 4 barrel carburator. No turbo no supercharger!
It makes 825 to 850 BHP and redline is around 9500 rpm.
So why is it soo hard to believe a 6 litre twin turbo can't make 1000 BHP or even more

Joey 07-30-2006 02:00

The title of this thread seems weird.....
"Owned by a V8"
The Veyron has 2 V8 engines joined together in the same crank case.
"The 64 Valve, Quad turbo, W16 Veyron, owned by a single, Two turbo, V8" But thats a bit long isn't.

I have trouble with this. I'm sure the Barabus car is VERY powerful. But the numbers just don't add up. How long will this car take to get to top speed after that 100kph? How reliable is it? What about turbo lag? The Veyron has 4 turbos, which they can stagger a lot better than just two. And it doesn't look anything like as nice as the Veyron.
From the wikipedia article.
Quote:

It should also be noted that the Veyron's 0-200 mph (0-322 km/h)time is quicker than the McLaren F1's 120-200 mph (193-322 km/h) time.
When the car reaches 137 mph (220 km/h), hydraulics lower the car until it has a ground clearance of about 3 1/2 inches (8.9 cm). At the same time, the wing and spoiler deploy. This is the "handling" mode, in which the wing helps provide 770 pounds (349 kg) of downforce, holding the car to the road. The driver must, using the key, toggle the lock to the left of his seat in order to use the maximum speed of 253 miles per hour (407 km/h). Theoretically it can go faster but it is electronically limited to 253 miles per hour (407 km/h) to prevent tire damage.

* Zero to 62 mph (100 km/h): 2.9 s
* Zero to 100 mph (162 km/h): 6.0 s
* Zero to 150 mph (243 km/h): 11.0 s
* Zero to 200 mph (324 km/h): 22.0 s
* Zero to 100 km/h: 2.8 s
* Zero to 200 km/h: 7.3 s
* Zero to 300 km/h: 16.7 s
I don't think another production car will beat this for a good while yet. But that's what people thought about the Maclaren F1.

The owners list is funny..... Who in their right mind would give this car to their wife or girlfriend, especially if you are a footballer?!
Quote:

Confirmed owners include:

* The wife of Ferdinand Pich - the former VW chairmans wife, who requested chassis number 007, was the first person on the waiting list [5]
* Tim Cahill - the Australian footballer's girlfriend Rebekah Greenhil was caught trying to park it in central Manchester [6]
* Michael Fux - a car collector who test-drove the car during a trip to Pebble Beach in August 2005 [7]
* Ralph Lauren - the fashion designer, bought one in black [8]
* Bob Manoukian - dodged the waiting list by buying his Veyron for 1.1m at a charity auction in London in June 2006 [9]
* Tom Cruise - The famous actor arrived at the Mission Impossible III premier in a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 2006
or Tom Cruise.
