For as long as I can remember, before I try nod off to sleep, I get this sort of anxious feeling that something else is in the room with me. It's as though I can feel an energy moving towards me, and usually equates to me opening my eyes to check if something's there.

    Anyone else experience this?

Well, both are two different feelings. But, both are stupid paranoia.

Do you take Benadryl or Diphenhydramine containing sleep aids? They'll make you feel anxious and even see **** at MASSIVE dosages (seeing spiders, dreaming while awake)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diphenhydramine

Some people purposely use them to get ****ed up on, and then later agree never again as the experience is crap and they can't differentiate between the hallucinations (audible and visual) and reality. But if you're already feeling anxious normally while trying to sleep and NOT taking them, uh, don't ever take them.

Do you mean physical people, or like ghosts? I feel the latter quite a bit, especially around 1:00-1:30AM. I regularly hear "bumps" in the night and get cold chills in perfectly warm rooms but personally I find it very comforting. It's pretty strange that I'm very pro-privacy when it comes to technology and am against being watched by other humans but put me in a "haunted" house and I'm peaceful. I know, I'm weird. :p

People are always anxious in dark, if you slept during the day it would be fine but it's because you can't see hardly anything during the night

Never taken anything of the sort. Though people taking that do exhibit the symptom of a build up of an uncomfortable energy when trying to sleep. Hmm.

I don't really believe in ghosts. Though something really strange happened just the other night. I was having a dream, not sure what about. Anyway, I heard a male voice whisper my name - I'm pretty certain it wasn't in my dream, because it woke me up, and just as I was coming to, I replied to it with a "Hmm?" - I then quickly realised I live on my own, my adrenaline kicked in and I really woke up. I snapped into seating position, and my body immediately had the reaction to look at the end of the bed. Nothing there of course.

They say people can remember having a dream after being woke up. (?)

That's never happened to me before, but I do believe something external woke me up.

    =========================

I think I'm going to try a short workout before I go to sleep from now on. It could be just excess unused energy what I'm feeling. Though I already workout ~1 hour a day, 4/5 days a week.

I have no choice but to believe in "ghosts" because of numerous experiences with them. My most recent one involved me sitting in my bed, just about to fall asleep, when I felt something walking on my back. I woke up, realized I wasn't dreaming, realized it was *still* walking up my back, and was scared sh*tless. I jumped up and there was nothing. That's just one in a long line of experiences. I think some people are more attuned to it than others, but I highly doubt it's a made up phenomenon.

Cue spirits of loved ones watching you watch porn. They get ethereal blue balls too, and you're their go-to.

    Invisible, masturbating, spectral spectators.

    Here ya go:

Sorry it's not a Succubus, better luck next time!

But, seriously. When you're in that half way state between sleeping and just waking up or vice versa- your mind can mentally screw you for a bit. I've had the "dreaming while awake" thing just being incredibly tired and trying to wake myself up for the day. Sometimes I'll dream about waking up in another place and be surprised I'm not really there when I do wake up. "Oh, yeah, just a dream". Or even just thinking about being watched by SOMETHING, even if not ghosts per say, I think there's just always something about night that makes it a pretty common human thing. That, and say being alone by being the only one awake at night adds a kind of on edge feeling. Quiet doesn't help either, I'd say leave a TV on. With porn, for mentioned reasons above.

And least you're not having Night Terrors or are Schizophrenic.

I don't know, they say vitamin B6 helps with remembering dreams the next day.

Because of things like Sleep Paralysis which can range from not being able to move but being awake, to being awake but still trapped in your dream, I don't think you can say experiences that involved being asleep are 100% paranormal, the brain does some weird things during sleep / waking up

I consider myself very cold minded and fast thinking, I was teached and raised to always calm down and think at least twice before doing something and I never, ever panic because of anything. Also I was raised in religious familiy, although I don't go to church very often now, maybe 3 or 4 times a year, when I was kid every sunday at AM time I was in church with my brother and my grandparents.
Also I believe there is something higher than us people and back then when I was younger I had few quite disturbing situations conected with something paranormal. In all of them I had no panic at all, I was just cold blooded waiting what is going to happen next. But I remember one situation very well when I was 20 years old, like it was yesterday and that was the only situation I remember myself panicking in my whole life...
It was summer 1994, one night around 11 PM I came home after walking my girlfriend to her home. I was in the bed looking at the closed window, windows shutters were down, TV was on, everyone in the house were sleeping and I was thinking how I'm going to spend next day together with my girlfriend... Suddenly I heard some quiet cracking noise from the room above, nobody was up there at that time because all of us were sleeping floor under because air temperature upstairs at summer was a bith higher at night. Then cracking noice has stoped... Few seconds later againg: quiet cracking noise, like someone was trying to break into the house cracking the wooden windows. After few seconds it stoped, then few seconds of pause and then wood cracking noise again! I was awake like never in my life because ot that noise, barely breeding, my hearing was so sharp and I felt like my ears were elephant ears like massive... First I was thinking some thief was trying to break into the house, but that part of the house was lighted outside more than enough from street lights, at that time (11 PM) at least few neigbours from the opposite side of the street can see if someone is going to break into the house on that side of our house, it will be very stupid to rob some house so early (people were still walking on streets at that time) and that theef must had a cojones like bull if he thinks he's going to walk out from the house on two legs because my dad and my are quite huge guys. Just to mention that I wasn't drunk, I've drink just one coffe with my girlfriend maybe 30 minutes before that.
Wood crackin stopped again and few minutes there was nothing, no noise at all on the room upstairs above my room. I was quiet in bed like a ninja waiting what will happen next and next thing that happend left me without breath: window across my bed with windows shutters down was sudenly shining like sun, I can barely look at it that because all that white light comming from window but window next to (also with windows shutters down) was normal, no light at all! I was frozen instantly because of fear I've felt in that moment, more than 10 seconds I wasn't breeding at all. That white light coming from the windows across my bed lasted about 4, 5 maybe few second more, I just lost my sense for time in that moment. After light was gone I was thinking: "...what the f.u.c.k. was that!? alien obduction or what...". After that silence in next maybe 10, 20, 30 seconds, I don't know how long and then I've heard footsteps in room above mine room: OMFG what is next!? At that time I had panic attack first time in my life, I've jumped from the bed and grab my sport rifle located nearby below the closet and run to the room where my parents ware sleeping: "... dad, someone is into the house on the floor above my room, take something sharp or heavy and run behind me if I can't manage to overpower that guy by myself...". Togethet we were at the floor above few seconds later: but noone was there. No traces that someone was trying to break into the house, wooden frames on all window were intact, just nothing! We searched every corner of the house after that, backyard and frontyard and found nothing. I've told my dad experience I had few minutes before that and he believed me because he knows I'm not some scarry kid... Few days after that we invited our church priest to bless our house again, few months before that he did bless our house because our religion "demands" from us to do that once a year at specific time.
Till this day I don't know what was that but I'm 100% sure it wasn't from this world and it was'n for sure someones joke. That event almost 20 yers ago was deeply engraved to my mind, even now I remember that event like it was yesterday.

lol Anyone remembers dreams from time to time. I remember dreams once or twice a week, and sometimes i remember what i believe to be the whole dream. Hell, i can interpret them and relate them to previous, awake experiences, so the brain doesn´t just invent things while we sleep. Freud has an interesting book on that matter. Nothing wrong there...

I remember loads of my dreams, I've even woken up inside my dream and knew I was asleep and dreaming, and was able to control my dream because I knew I was asleep

    Weird, concious while unconscious
