Mates ps3 has conked out ylod etc. He took it to a local pc repair shop to which they said the solder wont reflow, so he asked me if i could give it a go. I doing a bit of googling, though of course i would like to know what you gurus think. Chur.
i have done it its not guaranteed nor for longetiivity unless u reball the part Reflow 1 Worked for 2 weeks Reflow 2 worked for a month its quite random
I have reflowed a few 360s which have had the RROD. I cover the board with aluminium baking foil and then cut precise holes around the main chips (cpu and gpu for 360). Then I heat gun them for 60s. This prevents the rest of the board from getting hot and shifting. I haven't had to reflow any of them yet so I guess it works . Other than that I work for an electronics company so I have a reflow station at work. Good Luck! P.S. Avoid getting the board too hot. It'll flex and then its stuffed.
