Soo, it looks like the Veyron is not the fastest road car in the world anymore. A new car which costs 2 times less than the Veyron just won the title of the worlds's fastest road car http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/21/barabus-tkr-0-60-mph-in-1-67-secs-270-mph-top-speed/ Barabus TKR 1005 HP V8 Twinturbo, 6.0 liters 0-100 km/h in 1.67 seconds Top speedL 430 km/h I fear that the Veyron will leave Bugatti with major dephs coz now one is gonna buy it!
Yeh already saw that one. Doesn't make any change on the sales of the Veyron though, think every single one of em that was lined up for the production this year is already sold. Mostly in the US of A. They're also trying to build the Targa version. BTW..it was already known that the Bugatti Veryon isn't the fastest road car available as soon as it got announced. Saleen built an upgrade for the Saleen S7 twin turbo which boosted the engine 'till 1000HP. Dutch link: http://forum.fok.nl/topic/789504

I'm guessing it can do that speed easily in 2nd gear, maybe even first. EDIT: Probably first, the Viper and Corvette Z06 can do it.
Dude the Veyron was never about the money... they are making a massive loss on each... so selling less actually saves them money as they take 5 million to make and they sell for 840,000 or so... Also I am calling BS on those numbers... 6.0L Twin-Turbo V8 cannot kick out those kind of numbers. It makes no logical sense. The turbos would have to be sequential because to achieve a number like 1005 you would neeed a massive turbo running high boost which means boat loads of lag which makes a 0-60 in 1.6 next to impossible on a 6.0L V8... Also 270 top speed is way too high... the Veyron was limited by tire technology so it wasn't lack of power that was the problem. This leads me to ask... where the extra 15-20mph came from on the Barabus... it should really be limited by the same thing. Look I find it very very hard to believe a 6.0L Twin-Turbo V8 is going to beat an 8.0L Quad-Turbo W16. I will eat my words if Top Gear grabs this car and tells me the numbers are real... until then the Bugatti is still the fastest car on the planet in my eyes. And don't tell me about the new S7... I need to see the real performance not a bunch of estimated numbers on a website.
I think those numbers are achieveable - i've seen an Evo which is a 2.0 I4 kick out 900 - 30 years ago they were getting 8 or 900hp out of those equivallent sized V8s, normally aspirated - emission laws will be tighter now, but i bet it does have that power. I think the tyres will be the limitting factor here - especially if it's turbo. It'll get onto boost and just try to break the tyres loose...
It's a shame the Barabus is as ugly as a rusted out IROC. Who's idea was it to put that pig nose on the rear? From reading the comments on the site there is only two poeple that seemed to think it was even possible. Barabus seems to be a paper dream. The Veyron is still the real deal until proven other wise.
