Been testing 7950's and seems good but gpu's are very close together and the fist gpu temps go 81c while the second one is rather cool ~65c , my mobo is GIGABYTE GA-Z77MX-D3H LGA 1155 which means it's got 3 pie ,so my question is can I use the first pce and the third one so it have give it a little space ? Will I get a performance hit doing so? Your opinion is greatly appreciated
Looking at your mobo's manual the pci-e layout seems to be x16, x1, x4 and x8 so I think you're supposed to use the top one and the bottom one for dual GPUs. http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-z77mx-d3h_e.pdf Page 7.
You will get a performance improvement because bottom slot is PCI-E 3.0 x8 while second slot you currently use is just PCI-E 2.0 x4
Ok ,so what I will do now is run Heaven benchmark 4.0 and post results then later I'll move the second gpu to a lower slot and then post reults with same config.
You might not notice a difference even if there is a difference in other applications. If the second slot is x4 and the third slot is x8, win-win; Use the third slot and that's that.
Even if the bottom was x4 instead, it would be more beneficial to use it. The improvement in temps will far outweigh any performance benefit. In your case you get better performance and temperatures, even if it's only 2fps.
Ok resluts @ 1080p everything MAX , AA2X score : 1563 FPS :62.1 MIN: 22.9 MAX 148 This bench was done with gpu's close together I promised to provide results with 1st and 3rd slot pcie but I can't do that now due to my Corsair tx750 v2 being dead from the benchmarks, I guess higher power draws killed my PSU ,which begs my second question what's corsair warranty like ?
I double checked the wires and PSU is fine ,:3eyes: BUT I have a new problem and that the bottom slot is not detecting my second GPU ???!?!??!? mobo gigabyte ga z77mx d3h Any suggestions ?
